Mike Svoboda: Katharsis - solo performance for sacral spaces

for trombone, prepared trombone, tapes, turntable and live-electronic
inspired by texts from Meister Eckhart (1260-1328) and Martin Luther King

This concert program was created especially for churches and is concert and sound installation at the same time. Carefully constructed tapes with texts and soundscapes from Asia are combined with improvisations and compositions. Four of Meister Eckhart's 28 sentences condemned by the Bulle from 1329 form the backbone of the hour long piece, but leave room for pray chants from Burman and a quote from Martin Luther King.
